About Me
I am a Grade 12 IB Diploma student at West Vancouver Secondary School with a passion for computer science. My journey with coding began in Grade 2, and it has been a central part of my life ever since. I was born in Quebec, Canada, a predominantly French-speaking region, though I do not speak French at all. Shortly after my birth, my family returned to Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China, my parents' hometown, where I lived for twelve years until the end of elementary school. My love for coding continued to flourish when I moved to Vancouver, Canada. Outside of academics, I enjoy watching anime, with some of my favorites being Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Mushoku Tensei, Spy x Family, and so on. Among them, Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan stands out as my top favorite. I consider myself a highly ambitious, career-oriented, and well-rounded student, constantly striving for personal and professional growth.

Wolfram High School Summer Research Program 2024
June 25, 2024 - July 13, 2024
This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Wolfram High School Summer Program, where I engaged in hands-on collaboration with a mentor from Caltech. Meeting Stephen Wolfram was a highlight, as was connecting with many like-minded peers who were exceptionally talented, including USACO Platinum contestants, campers, ISEF finalists, and USAMO participants. During the program, I delved into research on SK combinator, a theoretical computer science concept that was new to me, broadening my academic horizons. The program not only enriched my knowledge and skills but also opened up numerous career opportunities and expanded my professional network.
Canadian Computing Olympiad 2024
May 27, 2024 - June 01, 2024
Attending the five-day Canadian Computing Olympiad hosted by the University of Waterloo has been my best experience so far. Besides listening to daily lectures from MIT professors, I had the opportunity to meet many top-tier talents: a genius who won an IMO gold medal in eighth grade, a Codeforces contestant with a 3000 rating, and IOI gold medalists—individuals I had only seen on leaderboards before. Additionally, I made many new friends, including my roommate, an IOI gold medalist, a new IOI contestant, CMO participants, and several other renowned competitors I previously only interacted with online. I also successfully earned a silver medal.

Shad 2023 at Laurentien University
July 02, 2023 - July 27, 2023
This summer, I attended the Shad Program at Laurentian University with 64 students from across Canada. We explored diverse STEAM topics through lectures and hands-on workshops, including AI, poetry, chemistry, and forensic science. A three-day camping trip helped us form a cohesive group. A major highlight was the "Yurt Community" design project, which tackled Canadian housing issues with a focus on accessibility, community, and affordability. Our team presented the project to over 200 attendees, including architecture experts. This experience, my best so far, greatly enhanced my communication, presentation, and English skills, and I hope to stay in touch with my new friends.
My Path to Coding
From a young age, I have been captivated by the world of technology and its limitless possibilities. Unlike my peers who were engrossed in fantasy novels, I was drawn to science fiction and popular science books, exploring concepts of time, space, and prehistoric creatures. My fascination with technology deepened through my love for the animation Doraemon, whose futuristic gadgets and scientific principles sparked my imagination. This early exposure to science and technology laid the foundation for my enduring passion, inspiring me to dream big and think creatively about the future. Furthermore, I found a passion for programming because I enjoy focusing on a single task. As a child, developing games allowed me to immerse myself completely for days on end, losing track of time. I discovered that creating games was as captivating as playing them, and the positive feedback I received after publishing my games was even more rewarding. This love for focused work and the joy of creation extended into my interest in competitive programming, where I continue to thrive and find fulfillment.
